Principles of Distributed Database Systems by M. Tamer zsu and Patrick Valduriez

This third edition of a classic textbook can be used to teach at the senior undergraduate and graduate levels. The material concentrates on fundamental theories as well as techniques and algorithms. The advent of the Internet and the World Wide Web, and, more recently, the emergence of cloud computing and streaming data applications, has forced a renewal of interest in distributed and parallel data management, while, at the same time, requiring a rethinking of some of the traditional techniques. This book covers the breadth and depth of this re-emerging field. The coverage consists of two parts. The first part discusses the fundamental principles of distributed data management and includes distribution design, data integration, distributed query processing and optimization, distributed transaction management, and replication. The second part focuses on more advanced topics and includes discussion of parallel database systems, distributed object management, peer-to-peer data management, web data management, data stream systems, and cloud computing. New in this Edition: New chapters, covering database replication, database integration, multidatabase query processing, peer-to-peer data management, and web data management. Coverage of emerging topics such as data streams and cloud computing Extensive revisions and updates based on years of class testing and feedback Ancillary teaching materials are available.

Geotechnical Engineering Principles & Practices By Coduto

Geotechnical Engineering Principles & Practices 2nd Edition PDF Download Ebook. Donald P. Coduto explores both the ideas of soil mechanics and their utility to engineering practice. It provides a rigorous, yet accessible and simple-to-read approach, as well as technical depth and an emphasis on understanding the physical foundation for soil behavior.

The book has been revised to include updated content and lots of new issues and workouts, in addition to to mirror suggestions from reviewers and the authors personal experiences. It primarily intended to be used as a textbook for undergraduate civil engineering students enrolled in an introductory course. It additionally serves effectively as a reference book for college students in observe-on programs and for working towards engineers.

Because the title infers, this book covers each "rules" (the fundamentals of soil mechanics) and "practices" (the application of these principles to practical engineering problems). This integrated strategy gives the reader a broader understanding of geotechnical engineering and provides a basis for future studies. This book is the product of 13 years experience teaching undergraduate geotechnical engineering courses.

Principles of Environmental Engineering and Science

Principles of Environmental Engineering and Science 2nd Edition PDF Download Ebook. Mackenzie L. Davis and Susan J. Masten provide background in elementary science and engineering rules of environmental engineering for college students who may or could not change into environmental engineers.

This book gives more emphasis on scientific rules, ethics, and safety, and focuses less on engineering design. The text exposes students to a broad range of environmental subjects-together with risk management, water high quality treatment, air pollution, hazardous waste, stable waste, and ionizing radiation as well as dialogue of relevant rules and practices.

The book additionally uses mass and energy steadiness for understanding environmental processes and fixing environmental engineering problems. It consists of non-compulsory chapter on Biology as well as a thorough updating of environmental standards and a dialogue of how those standards are created. It's well-fitted to a course in introductory environmental engineering for sophomore- or junior-degree students.

Foundation Design Principles and Practices 2 edition by Coduto

Foundation Design Principles and Practices 2nd Edition PDF Download Ebook. Donald P. Coduto uses design-oriented approach that addresses geotechnical, structural, and construction aspects of foundation engineering to explore practical methods of designing structural foundations, while emphasizing and explaining how and why foundations behave the way they do.

Author explains the theories and experimental data behind the design procedures, and how to apply this information to real-world problems. It also serves well as a reference book for practicing engineers. he chapters on deep foundations have been completely reorganized and rewritten, and new chapters on reliability-based design and sheet pile walls have been added. Extraneous material has been eliminated, and certain analysis methods have been clarified and simplified.

This book covers general principles (performance requirements, soil mechanics, site exploration and characterization); shallow foundations (bearing capacity, settlement, spread footings -- geotechnical design, spread footings -- structural design, mats) and deep foundations (axial load capacity -- full-scale load tests, static methods, dynamic methods; lateral load capacity; structural design).

Construction Scheduling Principles and Practices 2 edition

Construction Scheduling Principles and Practices 2nd Edition PDF Download Ebook. Jay S. Newitt deals with topics relating to construction management with emphasis on training managers in scheduling and project management techniques.

This text is a comprehensive, stand alone reference for project management scheduling. It features a unique combination of principles/fundamentals of scheduling and project management along with practical applications and tutorials of the 4 most common scheduling software programsMicrosoft Project, Primavera Project Planner (P3), SureTrak, P6 Project Manager and Contractor.

Having scheduling information and software instructions in one book obviates the need for two texts, and the exercises and examples in the scheduling portion are tied to the same exercises in the software portions. It provides unique combination of principles/fundamentals of scheduling and project management along with practical applications and tutorials of the 4 most common scheduling software programs.

Universal Principles of Design

Universal Principles of Design is the first comprehensive, cross-disciplinary encyclopedia of design. Richly illustrated and easy to navigate, it pairs clear explanations of every design concept with visual examples of the concepts applied in practice. From the "80/20 rule to chunking, from baby-face bias to Ockham's razor, and from self-similarity to storytelling, every major design concept is defined and illustrated for readers to expand their knowledge. Whether a marketing campaign or a museum exhibit, a video game or a complex control system, the design we see is the culmination of many concepts and practices brought together from a variety of disciplines. Because no one can be an expert on everything, designers have always had to scramble to find the information and know-how required to make a design work until now.

Principles of Jet Propulsion and Gas Turbines

This introduced certain difficulties, because it was necessary to omit certain data and useful information. It is felt, however, that because the discussions in this book are confined to basic principles the observance of the interests of military security has not impaired the attainment of the ain objective: the presentation of requisite fundamental theory pertinent to an intelligent understanding of jet-propulsion engines and gas-turbine power plants. The author has drawn freely from the unclassified literature, and credit is due t those authors, professional societies, publisher, and manufacturers who were kind enough to permit the use of their material. In this connection the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics deserves special mention. References to publications are given in the text, and those used in the of the chapter.

Flight Dynamics Principles, Second Edition

This book was first published and during that time there has been a modest but steady demand for the book. It is apparent that during this period there has been a growing recognition in academic circles that it is more appropriate to teach Aircraft stability and control in a systems context, rather than the traditional aerodynamic context and this is a view endorsed by industry. This is no doubt due to the considerable increase in application of automatic flight control to all types of aircraft and to the ready availability of excellent computer tools for handling the otherwise complex calculations. Thus the relevance of the book is justified and this has been endorsed by positive feedback from readers all over the world. This book is primarily intended for undergraduate and post graduate students studying aeronautical subjects and those students studying avionics, systems engineering, control engineering, mathematics, etc. who wish to include some flight dynamics in their studies. Of necessity the scope of the book is limited to linearised small perturbation aircraft models since the material is intended for those coming to the subject for the first time. The classical linearised theory of the stability and control of aircraft is timeless, it is brilliant in its relative simplicity and it is very securely anchored in the domain of the aerodynamicist.
